Google Contact Sync capability

With the advent of business card scanning apps on smartphones now, it would be really nice to be able to scan a business card into the phone. The phone can link its contacts with google contacts. If ISN linked with google contacts (like you do with google calendar), we could save a lot of time update/adding contact info. Would probably need a switch so you can say whether to add new contacts as agents or clients. Agents would be default.

I keep a two contact directories on my phone. 1 for Agents, and 1 For Clients.
It would be easy to do 2 way sync so that as new clients and agents are added to an order they get to my phone and my current contact lists come in.

- Automatically
- I don’t want all mg contact lists synced just ones I choose. For example I have 1 called Agents and another called Clients
- All their contact info and make in the Notes : Date started with this Agent and for client Date of inspection so there is bit of contact origin info.

Hiya adamnext, thanks for this post! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you clarify if you would like the sync to happen automatically or manually?
- Do you want to have the option to choose which contacts to sync or should all contacts be synced by default?
- Are there any specific details (like notes, email, phone number, etc.) that you want to be synced for each contact?

Synch contacts in ISN to google

My phone contacts are syched to google, so it would helpful and I wouldn't have to manually input into my phone. I figured since the calender synchs to google, I don't know why contacts couldn't as well.

I think syncing contacts to google like the calendar is synced would be a BIG move towards real integration with the real world and how people use their information. Having to go to a web page (mobile ISN) to call an agent or client is not efficient. And keeping information updated in 2 places (google contacts and ISN contacts) is definately not efficient or plausible for any useful sized list.

Good idea. There are many apps in the Android store that will scan and identify objects within a business card and recognize it as a contact, phone number, web address, business logo etc. I just tried Google Googles for example and found several other "free" applications. That seems like a starting place to develop a mobile application specific to ISN. Often I find dozens of business cards just on display in an open house and have been photographing them and saving the jpg to the contact photograph in ISN.
It would be nice to scan the business directly into ISN with a mobile app. It is a good idea to save the scan of the original business card as an image in ISN and also parses the information into the proper ISN fields. ISN should to be the primary tool for collecting business contacts. Google contacts can get an export if needed.
