In case of device failure it would be helpful to have a printed copy of the template checklist, which would include all sections with all options.
I have heard reports of phone/tablet failures during an inspection, leaving the inspector with only a separate camera and pad of paper. Having a printed checklist could be a life saver.

Mchappell - quick follow up question. I want to make sure I fully understand what you're envisioning. When you say “printed template checklist,” can you walk me through what that would look like in practice? For example, are you thinking of a full printout of every section and option in your inspection template, or more of a simplified field worksheet for emergency use? I just want to be sure we’re solving the right problem.

A full printout/PDF of the entire template would be ideal, with checkboxes and ideally room for comments for each category.
The use case would be that if the device with the ISN app stops working, it would be possible to manually go through the entire template as a checklist and still complete the inspection without missing anything. Aside from comments sections, the less white space the better with the goal being the fewest pages possible in order for the printout to be manageable. The format of the current PDF output of a completed inspection would not work, it would need to be compact - no graphics, just text and checkboxes. Most inspectors I know use their phone/tablet for the ISN app and photos, but most also have a digital camera as a backup, so photos could be added when transcribing the paper report into the online ISN report.
I'll attach a sample checklist that was provided to me for a rough reference.
