report write improvements

I have several report writer improvements i would like to see implemented. we have used 3D for over 25 years and are now switching to isn and trying to make it as smooth as possible.
- add drop down menus to allow for quicker grab of items/comments. for example to save space, when identifying the age of an object the slow way was also type it in, but we found it alot easier to add a bunch of drop downs such as '1990' and then when you hit that, you can select from a group that say 1990,1991,1992 etc...
- similarly to the drop down idea allow comments to be assigned to line items. for example when inspecting a roof. we have several comments that apply to asphalt and several to metal. it would be nice that if i check the material is asphalt i get a shortened list or a drop down under it with comments that only pertain to asphalt and not every comment including metal, slate, etc.
- in the actual report, remove the comment heading. for example to save on space and reading under my comments section is have a heading of 'ponding' but the actual comment explains about grading and there is water ponding too close to the house, etc. but in the report it should this heading of PONDING followed by what i actually want them to know. i just feel like these headers are there for me in the field to quickly identify to my self which comment i want to use and dont really need them to see that.
this is my short list as im just getting started converting 25 years of 3d into isn report writer.

@jzimmerman - we have made a lot of improvements to the Report Writer in the last year. We added the ability to have drop downs and to leverage a comment library for re-usability. There are even new report layout options. Please feel free to ping me if you still have an unanswered need.

jzimmerman - thanks for the great chat and the solid feedback. As I mentioned, I am going break all of these out into separate feedback items so that we can track them individually.

jzimmerman - first thank you for taking the time to provide all this feedback. We are working on many of them already, but I would love the chance to talk to you directly if you are ok with that. If you are open to that you can schedule some time with me here: https://calendly.com/janayafix_isn/chat-with-janaya-fix

- The flag would be an embedded button at the top of the page in the blue header next to the toggle/microphone… every item in the report has the default flag set to off. When you come across something you want to cycle back to you simply click the flag to on. Then there needs to be like a search function or show all flags on, so it will pull all the sections of your editor that have the flag turned on so I can easily jump to that item and elaborate or add what I want to publish in the report.
Or even make all the flags jump to its own section that we can access quickly all at one place and one by one once finished we can turn the flag off and it is no longer in that section
- Our state law requires this exact form be issued when doing a wood destroying insect inspection. So if isn can pre-populate the top with the company info/client info. Then the rest of the report have a simple check box/type box in the given locations on the form.
- For example when we encounter an asphalt roof with minor problems that are common for them we have access to a comment such as , there is typical cracking of the shingle and loss of aggregate… then when we run into a slate roof we have a typical comment for slate maintenance such as there are chipped corners and loose slates and proper maintenance is recommended. These are both very common instances we run into and want both comments pre uploaded to the app, but it’s obvious we don’t need both in the same report, therefore, when we get tot the house and see it’s slate and we select the ‘type’ as slate, it will pull the slate comments to the top/or to the front page . On the back end possibly it looks like there’s an option for each comment to ‘assign’ it to a specific item on the previous page. If you don’t assign it to a given line item it will always appear where it is.
I hope these make sense and I’d be happy to try and explain more over the phone if it’s easier

Hey jzimmerman, thanks for your feedback! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more details on how you envision the bookmark or flag feature functioning in the report editor?
- Could you elaborate on how you would like the HUD standard Wood Destroying Insect Form NPMA-33 to be integrated with isn?
- Can you provide examples of the types of comments you would like to be assigned to line items, such as the roof material example you provided?

Janaya Fix - Product Management I have another request for the report writer/template. I want to copy/ duplicate a line and move it to a second category. for example under my 'exterier' category i have a line section of siding. I would like to also have that exact line section also appear under my 'detached garage' category.... currently i dont think lines can be moved to a new category

Janaya Fix - Product Management I have another request, or perhaps cannot find how to properly do this.... Within the ISN desktop template editor I am trying to create a new line inside a category such as 'estimate age' of the HVAC system. When I create a new line there is no option other thana checkbox format. Is there a way to make it a standard type in text area? Obviously dates are numerous and variable and therefore typing in the exact is easiest.
The other option that i actually prefer is a checkbox with a drop down attached to it with multiple more checkable boxes. for example: first check box is 1990 with sub selections 1991 1992 etc.
